Poppodium Boerderij Shares Anniversary Documentary as a Christmas Gift

This year we celebrated our 50th anniversary. The jubilee was marked throughout the year with special events, anniversary concerts, and our own commemorative beer. All of 2025 revolved around past, present, and future, with the highlight being the documentary From Squat to International Pop Venue, made by Zoetermeer-based documentary filmmaker Marc Waltman.

The film brings together generations of musicians, volunteers, staff, and visitors, and highlights the rich history of Poppodium Boerderij: from its early days as a squat and legendary nights to sold-out shows and international top acts. At the same time, it looks ahead to the future, in which the Boerderij will move to a brand-new building.

The documentary drew full houses and sparked a great sense of pride and recognition, both in Zoetermeer and beyond.

As a festive conclusion to the anniversary year—and as a Christmas gift for everyone—the documentary can be watched online for free. The premiere will take place on Wednesday, December 24 at 8:00 PM.

“The film now belongs to everyone,” says the filmmaker.
