New managing director and local promoter
New managing director and new local promoter Poppodium Boerderij
Two familiar faces within Poppodium Boerderij will play a different role from this year on. As of February 1, 2024, Janine Karlas (34) will become the new managing director of Poppodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer. She will succeed Arie Verstegen (64), who has been working at the Zoetermeer pop temple since 2000. Arie performed a dual function; this is going to be split up. Ron Ouwehand (30) is now the new local promoter.
Arie has been the face of Poppodium Boerderij for almost 25 years. He’s not retiring yet, but will remain involved as an advisor to Poppodium Boerderij in the near future. “I like to pass on my knowledge, experience and network. I have full confidence in the new team and will remain involved with Poppodium Boerderij for the time being,” says Arie.
Janine attended a concert at Poppodium Boerderij for the first time at the age of 18. “What I remember from this first visit is the atmosphere and the 'sense of belonging’. After this concert, I signed up as a volunteer almost immediately.” In her role as production manager, Janine developed her leadership skills and got to know the pop music sector better and better. In recent years, Janine has been involved in marketing, policy matters and management support. In her opinion, talent development (on stage and behind the scenes) is an important pillar for the future: "I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given and will never forget how I started."
Local promotor Ron Ouwehand is a great music fan. He also started as a volunteer at the Boerderij more than 9 years ago; the venue whose offering is closest to his personal taste in music. Since then, Ron has gained a lot of experience and built up a network. His long-cherished wish to make a career in music is now becoming reality. “I think it’s a great opportunity and challenge to work as a local promoter at De Boerderij. I strive to continue the familiar programming of De Boerderij while broadening it with an eye on the future.”
With a new managing director, a passionate local promoter and an experienced advisor, Poppodium Boerderij is ready for the future.
