If there is anyone who has put funk on the map to large audiences, it’s The Godfather of Soul: James Brown. After all, everyone knows hits like Sex Machine and Cold Sweat. Amsterdam Funk Orchestra brings a flaming and cool tribute to James Brown this evening. Big shoes to fill, there is really only one person in the Netherlands who can take on the role of James Brown: Jared Grant.
Jared won many prizes, released a brilliant album and shines weekly in the Sven Hammond Band during Dutch TV program Matthijs Gaat Door. The biggest funk band in the Netherlands, Amsterdam Funk Orchestra, is a rising star in clubs, both in the jazz and pop scene. The band plays classic funk and afro funk with devotion, specially written and arranged by Ephraim Trujillo. The large rhythm section with double percussion makes it impossible to sit still! The band will live up to their live reputation with this James Brown tribute featuring Jared Grant.
