Anneke van Giersbergen, known from the melancholic metal band The Gathering, is one of the Netherlands’ most versatile singers. With her powerful and vulnerable voice, she has built a successful solo career. In March, the singer released a new EP: La Mort.
After thirteen years with The Gathering, Anneke van Giersbergen struck out on her own in 2007, collaborating with artists like Devin Townsend, Arjen Lucassen, and Napalm Death. Her music continues to evolve and remains inspiring. No wonder she was awarded the Buma ROCKS! Export Award in 2019—a recognition of her success abroad. In early 2021, her deeply personal solo album The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest was released.
