4 man band Chicago Four is inspired in style and sound by how the blues sounded in the many blues clubs in Chicago in the 60s and especially 70s. With a lineup of 2 guitars, bass, drums and of course vocals (and some sprinkling of harmonica), Chicago Four creates this raw club sound.
An important example for the band is the straightforward blues of Magic Slim & The Teardrops. Most of Chicago Four's repertoire was also on Magic Slim's setlist.
Frontman Robbert Fossen (vocals, guitars, harmonica) has over 30 years of experience with this musical style and has toured several times with two of the original Teardrops, John Primer and Nick Holt. Guitarist (and singer) Ber van Zanen, known from The Groovetakers among others, is a great soloist as well as a very good and tasteful accompanist. The strong rhythm section consists of bassist Jan Markus, who like no other can and dares to leave out all the frills, and drummer Jeffrey van Duffelen, as always in the driver’s seat, lays the rock-solid foundation on which the band can lean.
