Gong was founded in 1969 by Daevid Allen (co-founder of Soft Machine) and grew into one of the most idiosyncratic and influential bands of the 1970s. With an adventurous mix of rock, jazz, and psychedelia, Gong built a unique world, where musical freedom and imagination take center stage. For his last album with Gong, I See You, Allen personally assembled the current lineup, with the express wish that the band would continue after his death. Said mission has been pursued with conviction ever since.
With Kavus Torabi, Dave Sturt, Fabio Golfetti, Ian East, and Cheb Nettles, Gong now boasts its most stable lineup ever. For eight years, they have been writing, recording, and touring together. Live, Gong is an energetic and captivating band, known for powerful performances and musical tension. The group honors the spirit of the original Gong, but above all, looks forward: new music, new ideas, and no room for nostalgia. Gong remains relevant, adventurous, and uncompromising—a band that continues to move and surprise.
