GrandMothers of Invention

The Grandmothers of Invention are among the leading bands keeping Frank Zappa's music alive. During this tour, aptly named the "Freak Out - The Early Zappa Years", The GrandMothers Of Invention present a 'best of show' with songs from the first 10 Frank Zappa albums. Expect an evening packed with songs from such classics albums as Freak Out, Absolutely Free, We're Only In It For The Money, Uncle Meat and Burnt Weeny Sandwich. And of course there will be room for experiments and improvisation, in keeping with the true Zappa style.... This is not just a comeback, this is the reincarnation of The Mothers of Invention and each performance proves that "They can still do that on stage"!
The Mothers of Invention were, in various line-ups, Frank Zappa's backing band from 1964 to 1975. In 2002 Bunk Gardner, Don Preston, Napoleon Murphy Brock and David Parlato, four legendary former members of The Mothers formed The Grandmothers to give Zappa fans who were either not yet born, too young, Republican, or otherwise unable to attend in the sixties the chance tot see The Mothers live on stage.
