In 2017 it has been 10 years since the debut album by the Dutch progressive rock band Kingfisher Sky was released. During this show, the band will also present an anniversary EP. These new progressive rock songs will be played live for the first time tonight with the help of some special guest musicians Kristoffer Gildenlow (ex-Pain of Salvation, Neal Morse) and Valerio Recenti (My Propane).
The band featuring drummer Ivar de Graaf (ex-Within Temptation) and singer Judith Rijnveld now has three albums to its name. The group consists of musicians from different backgrounds and is influenced by, inter alia, Porcupine Tree, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd and traditional folk music. In 2007, Kingfisher Sky entered the studio with producer duo Jochem Jacobs (Textures) and Bouke Visser to record their debut album Hallway Of Dreams. It provided the band with a huge fan base both at home and abroad. In 2010 second album Skin Of The Earth is released, followed in 2014 by third album Arms of Morpheus. Crowdfunding enables the band to independently record aforementioned album. Arms of Morpheus is the most versatile album to date. Influences from pop and world music (Irish folk and Eastern influences) are mixed with classic and progressive rock.
