Lee Rocker made a name for himself worldwide as the bassist and vocalist of The Stray Cats. Alongside Brian Setzer and Slim Jim Phantom, he helped bring rockabilly back to a mainstream audience in the early 1980s. With his distinctive upright bass – which he not only plays but also stands on, spins and rocks – he became one of the most recognisable bass players in rock ’n’ roll. The Stray Cats sold more than 10 million albums worldwide and scored major hits including Stray Cat Strut, Sexy and Seventeen and Rock This Town. But Lee Rocker’s career has since grown far beyond the band that made him famous.
Since 1994, he has built a successful solo career, releasing an extensive catalogue of albums. In his own music, he combines rockabilly and rock ’n’ roll with blues, roots and Americana. He has also worked with legendary artists including George Harrison, John Fogerty, Ringo Starr and The Rolling Stones. Rocker remains an impressive live performer. His energetic shows centre around his virtuoso upright bass playing, while also making room for both his solo material and The Stray Cats classics. Expect a mix of rockabilly, rock ’n’ roll and roots music, including Stray Cats favourites such as Stray Cat Strut and Rock This Town. Lee Rocker proves that he is much more than just the bassist of The Stray Cats: he is an established solo artist who has been forging his own path for more than three decades.
