Bombitas XL and Mimile have joined forces and will tour the Netherlands together this year. Obviously, because these musicians, the crème de la crème of the Dutch music scene, have crossed paths with each other for decades, in various venues. Not only do they share a kindred spirit but sometimes they even play together in different configurations.
When you think of Gruppo Sportivo and Herman Brood you cannot ignore the Bombitas. The dazzling duo has been part of both bands since 1980. The specific colour of the voices of Lies Schilp and Inge Bonthond have set the tone of many a Sportivo and Brood show. Live they are the major highlights! With Powerplay frontman Jan van der Meij the Bombitas have always had a special connection. Not very surprisingly the ladies have asked him to work with Max Mollinger and Peter Calicher, drummer and keyboard player of Gruppo Sportivo to create a show based around their own pop history. Emilie Blom, the female bass player of The Scene, the legendary lowlands rock band in which she played alongside Thé Lau from the very beginning to the very end, has released an English solo album under the name Mimile. With the help of some fellow musicians and under the watchful eyes of Thé Lau she quietly recorded her solo debut over the course of last year. Since November 2015 she performs with her new band, within the ranks none other than musicians like Marcel de Groot (guitars), Stephan van der Meijden (drums) and PP Everts (keyboards).
