Sanctuary emerged in the Seattle heavy metal scene in the 1980s. With Joseph Michael on vocals (since 2018), the band presents a powerful, recognizable, and innovative sound that appeals to both old and new fans.
Sanctuary's musical career got off to a strong start in 1988 with their debut album Refuge Denied, produced by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. In 1990, they released their more refined and dark masterpiece Into The Mirror Black, and in 2011, The Year The Sun Died. After singer Warrel Dane passed away in 2017, Sanctuary enlisted the help of singer Joseph Michael (Witherfall) for a tribute tour. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response, the band decided to continue with Joseph and begin working on new material.
