Soen is a prog-metal supergroup with former members of Death, Opeth and Willowtree. Drummer Martin Lopez (ex-Opeth) describes their music as melodic, heavy and complex. Comparisons are made with the style of Tool and Pink Floyd, but above all Soen has its own exciting sound.
They have been playing together since 2004, but in 2010 the band made its first official appearance and two years later they released their successful debut album Cognitive. Soen has always taken the freedom and space to explore and analyze themselves and society, which has led to a broad development in their music and albums. In January their fifth album Imperial was released. This is their most heavy and dynamic album so far with clear, sharp and well-crafted songs that convey both frustration, reflection and hope. Lopez: "We wanted to show more power and pay tribute to metal, because that's where our roots lie, we grew up with this genre". An absolute must-see for every prog-metal lover.
