Tarkus pays tribute to the musical legacy of the legendary trio Emerson, Lake & Palmer. With refined performances of well-known works and lesser-played compositions, the band emphasizes the richness and inventiveness of ELP's repertoire.
The musicians of Tarkus each have their own background and style, but share a deep admiration for the originality of Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, and Carl Palmer.
Keith Turner (keyboards) grew up in the 1960s and 1970s with R&B, Classic Rock, and Motown. He studied music, wrote his own work, and played ELP pieces from an early age. Keith Emerson always remained a significant source of inspiration. Multi-instrumentalist Mike Ian (guitar) developed from drummer to guitarist, composer, and producer. With his experience as a studio engineer and owner, he brings a broad musical vision. John M. Cassidy (drums) drew inspiration from John Bonham, Carl Palmer, and Buddy Rich. After studying and performing in Hollywood, Las Vegas, and international tours, he returned to Delaware, where he uses his experience with Tarkus. With respect for the original compositions and a keen eye for detail, Tarkus recaptures the power, virtuosity, and subtlety of Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
