Dutch progressive rock artist Edward Reekers released his first solo album in fifteen years last year. The Liberty Project is a rock opera, a musical and a concept album in one and contains contributions from, among others, Steve Hackett (Genesis), Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Damian Wilson (Threshold, Ayreon and Arena), John 'Jaycee' Cuijpers (Praying Mantis) , Koen Herfst (Vandenberg), Cindy Oudshoorn (Kayak). Edward will perform this record on Dutch stages with a fantastic live band and the 'final show' will of course take place at the Boerderij!
Reekers is the former lead singer of Kayak. He joined Kayak ahead of the release of their breakthrough album Phantom Of The Night featuring their biggest hit Ruthless Queen. Reekers remained Kayak's lead singer until their split in 1982 and from 2005 to 2014. He released the solo albums The Last Forest (1980), Stages (1983) and Child Of The Water (2008) under his own name and toured throughout Europe as a backing singer for artists such as Meatloaf, Oleta Adams and Bobby Kimball. Edward is also a frequent guest vocalist with Arjen Lucassen's Ayreon project.
